Lianca Dookran, the founder of Assess and Progress Integrated Therapy Center, is a physiotherapist with a passion for Orthopaedics and sport injuries. She provides evidence based non-surgical treatment for acute injuries, chronic conditions and post operative rehabilitation. Her preferred therapy is a Hands On approach using manual massage on soft tissue, joint manipulation, core strengthening exercises and acupuncture (Dry Needling).

All appointments are 45 minutes to ensure each patient receives the attention he/she requires. She also offers a mobile therapy service visiting home and offices in a time suited to the client.

An Integrated Approach

Understanding that any individual problem seldom has a single solution, Lianca Dookran has teamed with rehabilitative professionals in the Assess and Progress Integrated Therapy Center. The office facility at Sanhall Park behind the Alberlito Hospital currently includes a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and General Practitioner.

A Comprehensive range of treatments applied for various muscular, skeletal ailments. A combination of hands-on remedial treatments including massage, manipulation, movement, exercises and acupuncture (dry needling) to successfully rehabilitate affected areas to optimum function.

Back and Neck Pain

Back and neck pain are extremely common conditions seen by physiotherapists daily. Approximately 80% of people will experience mechanical back ache at some stage in their life. Pain in the back and neck can originate from many different causes. Some common causes include:

Standing, sitting or bending down for prolonged periods

Women’s Health Physiotherapy is the therapeutic treatment of all disorders affecting the pelvis and pelvic floor: From incontinence to prolapse, pelvic pain or constipation, there is growing evidence that physiotherapy can alleviate, and in many cases cure these symptoms.

Most women don’t know that help is available. The pelvic floor muscles are often described as a hammock lifting and supporting the pelvic organs above. These muscles need to be able to contract to keep us continent, but also they must relax to allow for urination, bowel movements, child birth and sexual intercourse.

Problems with the pelvic floor can occur when these muscles are too weak (hypotonic) or too tight (hypertonic). It is also possible for these muscles to combine a pattern of too much tension in some areas while too relaxed in others!
